October 18, Luke 11:35-36, Becoming

35Then watch out that the light in you is not darkness. 36 If therefore your whole body is full of light, with no dark part in it, it will be wholly illumined, as when the lamp illumines you with its rays.” NASB

Jesus tells me in this scripture that I must look at myself and be sure that my actions and thoughts are in the light of His teaching.

The process of growing is all about becoming something. Becoming what God has designed me for, to do good works that glorify His name.

Jesus’ teaching in this passage in about the process of growing, the process of becoming His disciple.

Key points about growing:

We must be willing to grow

We must be willing to assess ourselves to grow

We must be honest about ourselves to grow

We must be uncomfortable to grow

We must be diligent to grow

We must be repentant of our darkness (sin) to grow

We must be different to grow

Growing in Jesus is a lifelong journey and does not stop at death. We become what God has intended. Moving from this life to the next we realize our faith and become the spiritual being that will spend eternity with God. The final and ultimate step in growing.

Enjoy the journey in Jesus!
